Senior Pastor: Rev. J Kyle Parker
J Kyle Parker is husband to the lovely Gretchen and father to Jackson and Molly. He is the pastor of Cascade Presbyterian Church which located in the south hills of Eugene 15 blocks from the University of Oregon. Our region and city provide challenges and opportunities few places in our country can match. Eugene is amongst the most progressively liberal and secular cities in the world - there are understandable academic and political challenges to faithful gospel ministry. However, there are also opportunities afforded to a presbyterian and reformed church as we relate to our cultures environmentalism and sociological post modernity.
Interests include an insatiable desire to fly fish and generally be out of doors. He enjoys a good movie as well as a morbid fascination with ’24’ and ‘Lost’. He watches ‘Greys Anatomy’ with Gretchen and find a tremendous amount of fodder for conversation amidst it’s tenuous trysts. The selection of music is a constant struggle in their home; his daughter loves classic hymns, while he prefers classic rock and U2, Gretchen’s a top 40 alternative fan. Unashamed to admit that he also has developed a grand love for his yard and an addictive desire for an ‘Augusta National’ caliber lawn - he will never attain. March is the most confusing month for him to live through as the NCAA Tournament is simply the best but, no matter what, some financial calamity always hits his family the week before his birthday.
Prior to pastoring Cascade he served as the founding RUF campus minister at Colorado State University his Alma Mater. He had the opportunity to minister to and alongside a great group of students who are off living grand and faithful lives.
He attended Covenant Theological Seminary prior to RUF and while there had the opportunity to start Reformed Campus Fellowship at the Kirk of the HIlls - a training ministry which initiated several campus ministries in the colleges and universities around St Louis with the express goal of training seminary interns to do campus ministry.
Along with the work at RCF one of the great pleasures of life was serving in an interim role with RUF at the University of Southern Mississippi. While at USM I fell in love with the people and ministry of First Presbyterian Church and have benefitted to this day from the myriad of friends he still has in Hattiesburg.
Associate Pastor: Rev. Kyle Perret
Kyle Perret hails from Louisiana where he grew up in a small town, Zachary. He earned a B.A. in philosophy from Belhaven College, located in Jackson, MS (2000) and an MDIV from Covenant Theological Seminary, located in St. Louis, MO (2005). After graduating from college Kyle worked for Reformed University Fellowship (RUF) as an intern for one year at Texas A&M University. Upon completion of his seminary education Kyle worked as a youth pastor for three years at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church (Columbus, GA) and moved to Eugene in August of 2008.
Of the different places he’s lived, Kyle enjoyed St. Louis the most because it was there he met his lovely wife Davina. Kyle and Davina have two lovely, yet rascally, children, J.T. (age 5) and Camille (age 4).
Kyle enjoys running, hanging out, watching college sports (Geaux Tigers!), enjoying the beautiful scenery of Oregon and of course all cajun food. Kyle does not like painting, balancing his check book or getting up before 7:00 a.m. because his children wake him up.
Music Ministries: Davina Perret
Davina Perret is from Littleton, CO and has lived in Eugene for 4 years. She studied Music Therapy with an emphasis in piano performance at Colorado State University. After the completion of her degree she moved to upstate New York to complete her music therapy internship so that she could be certified as a music therapist. She moved to St. Louis in the summer of 2000 to work on a Masters of Divinity degree at Covenant Theological Seminary. It was here that she met her husband, Kyle. After the completion of her Masters she and Kyle moved to Georgia and lived there for three years before moving to Eugene.
Davina enjoys living in a state that has mountains, low humidity and abundant organic food choices. Davina does not enjoy being cold, a dirty house or whinny children. She and Kyle have two children, J.T., age 5, and Camille, age 4.
College Ministries: Matt Allhands
Matt Allhands was born right here in Eugene, OR and raised in Northern California. After graduating High School Matt when on to receive an Associate of Arts degree for Instrumental Performance.
He left home to work with Youth With A Mission's Discipleship Training School where he met his lovely wife Becky. As a testament to Becky's enduring love and faithfulness she followed Matt's leadership through India, and still decided to marry him afterwards.
As Oregon natives both Becky and Matt had wanted to live in Eugene for some time, but finally made the return journey in the fall of 2009. They enjoy drinking good coffee, playing music, watching movies; they listening to jazz; old rhythm and blues, and indie music, and riding their bikes wherever, and whenever they can.
Youth Ministries: Justin Bruce
Justin was born in 1980, and raised in Northern California where he met and married his wonderful wife, Becca, in 2002. After a few years of marriage they moved to Eugene to attend Bible College in 2004. They graduated in 2007 with Bachelor's degrees, Becca in Bible and Children's Education, and Justin in Bible and Pastoral Studies with a minor in Youth Ministry.
Justin has been working with youth since arriving in Eugene either as a youth minister or on youth staff at a few local churches, and after attending Cascade for 9 months, he took the position as a Pastoral Intern and Youth Director in the summer of 2008.
Justin works full-time at a local Credit Union, and his wife is a teacher. When they are not working (and he is not studying theology) they enjoy going to the coast to crab, watching movies, riding their bikes around town, drawing, hiking to waterfalls and taking pictures of God's glorious creation, working on their home, watching Duck football, and spending time with friends. But recently Justin and Becca's time is spent mostly with their first child, their son Callen, who joined their family and Cascade in April 2010. They enjoy watching the Lord shape and grow Callen, and the wonder of seeing him develop as he laughs, smiles, drools, chews on everything, and "talks", and they look forward to the joys of parenting him as Christ unfolds his work in all their lives.
